It started as a dream that came true in 2023. This dream was to have a house in the village and later serve as a local accommodation, with the objective of introducing the beautiful location of São João de Tarouca and the surrounding areas, as it is integrated into the Douro region.
In 2022, the opportunity arose to acquire a house, and the dream became a reality. After the works were carried out and the interior was completely remodeled, exceeding all the necessary legalizations for its operation, this accommodation opened its doors in October 2023.
The House of the Earth is located in the parish of Saint John of Tarouca, a few meters from the Monastery of Saint John of Tarouca, the first built in Portugal by the Cistercian Order. With a maximum capacity for 8 people, it offers a welcoming and authentic experience for those seeking a peaceful refuge. The charming atmosphere and exceptional hospitality make the House of the Earth a popular destination among travelers seeking comfort and convenience. We start with the bedrooms!
All bedrooms have a double bed and are equipped,
for greater comfort, with air conditioning.
Our guests also have, if necessary,
a crib in a totally free way, they just need
to inform when booking.

Kitchen equipped with Teka brand appliances.
You can prepare your meal comfortably because there are
enough utensils at your disposal, such as cutlery,
plates, glasses, etc. Here you will also find the table, of large
size, where you will have your meal quietly.
Now the living room!
The living room is equipped with a chaise-longue sofa,
which can be converted into a bed to accommodate
two more people, where you can watch your favorite
program on a 140cm TV. If your reservation
is in the coldest time, you have the possibility of turning on an electric fireplace for more comfort.
Our balcony!
On the balcony, you can simply relax, sunbathe,
admire the view, or even have a meal.
There you will find an awning to be more comfortable
on sunny days.
Do you like to make barbecues?
Nothing like a good grill, especially
with this view.
We have at your disposal in our backyard
a grill, where you can prepare your
favorite dish on the grill.

Only 3 km from the house is the river beach
of Mondim da Beira, with all the amenities.
A few meters from Casa do Terreiro you can also
appreciate the waterfalls of the Varosa River.
We cannot fail to mention
